Commons 2.0.12

I’ve just released version 2.0.12 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This maintenance release is a major-update release for plugins and themes. It also includes an update to the WordPress 6.1.x series. In addition, the release includes the following fixes:

  • Improved appearance for the main site search bar
  • Improvements to the way that crossposted forum posts are handled
  • Better appearance for post-footer Creative Commons logo

Commons 2.0.0

I’ve just released version 2.0.0 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This is the latest in our twice-yearly “feature releases”, where we introduce major changes to the site.

Highlights from the 2.0.0 release:

  • A redesigned interface for People, Groups, Sites, and Courses directories. This is a continuation of redesign work that we began in version 1.19.0.
  • In the redesign vein, we also reworked the appearance of the registration page.
  • Improvements to group forums, including better search and pagination
  • Integration between the WP Grade Comments plugin and the Reckoning tool, often used by instructors to review student work.
  • Improved tools for leaving sites, writing site descriptions for display in directories, and uploading site logos.

Commons 1.18.16

I’ve just released version 1.18.16 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This maintenance release includes fixes for the following:

  • Various bugs in the behavior of group forums, particularly surrounding pending posts
  • A bug that prevented the ‘Order by’ dropdown on the Groups directory from triggering a refresh

Commons 1.18.7

I’ve just released version 1.18.7 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This maintenance release is a major-update release for plugins and themes, and also includes an upgrade of WordPress to a new major release series (5.6.x). Other fixes include:

I’ve just released version 1.17.5 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This maintenance release includes the following fixes:

  • Fixed problem that could cause group forum posts to be orphaned in certain cases
  • Fixed compatibility between pressforward-turnkey-theme and WP 5.5+
  • Fixed bug that made it impossible to add library items with # in the filenmae
  • Improvements to the daily digest mechanism for group notifications
  • Fixed the Notifications UI in user Settings area

Commons 1.17.4

I’ve just released version 1.17.4 of the CUNY Academic Commons. This maintenance release is a major update release for plugins and themes. It also includes a major update to WordPress, to release series 5.5.x. Commons 1.17.4 contains a number of fixes to ensure compatibility with WordPress 5.5.x, as well as the following:

  • Fix bug that could cause Reply link to lead to the wrong place when viewing group forums in a thread
  • Ensure that content copied from a template at the time of site creation is attributed to the site creator
